چکیده
The study of transcription remains one the centerpieces modern biology with implications in settings from development to metabolism evolution disease. Precision measurements using a host different techniques including fluorescence and sequencing readouts have raised bar for what it means quantitatively understand transcriptional regulation. In particular our understanding simplest genetic circuit is sufficiently refined both experimentally theoretically that has become possible carefully discriminate between conceptual pictures how this regulatory system works. This motif, originally posited by Jacob Monod 1960s, consists single repressor binding promoter site inhibiting transcription. paper, we show seven distinct models so-called simple-repression based on thermodynamic kinetic thinking, can be used derive predicted levels gene expression shed light often surprising past success models. These are then invoked confront variety data mean, variance full distributions, illustrating extent which such cannot distinguished, suggesting two-state model distribution burst sizes as most potent describing motif.

Reconciling the Roles of Kinetic and Thermodynamic Factors in Membrane–Protein Insertion
For the vast majority of membrane proteins, insertion into a membrane is not direct, but rather is catalyzed by a protein-conducting channel, the translocon. This channel provides a lateral exit into the bilayer while simultaneously offering a pathway into the aqueous lumen. The determinants of a nascent protein's choice between these two pathways are not comprehensively understood, although bo...
متن کاملa study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns
attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...
Removal of Nickel (II) ions from aqueous solutions using Iron (III) oxide nanoparticles: study of kinetic, isotherm and thermodynamic models
Background and Objective: Due to the existence of industries such as stainless steel, the presence of nickel (II) ions in water and wastewater has been reported at high concentrations. Removal of nickel (II) ions from wastewater and the environment are of primary importance. In this study, iron (III) oxide nanoparticles were studied as an adsorbent for removal of Ni (II) ions from water in the ...
متن کاملIncorporating Nucleosomes into Thermodynamic Models of Transcription Regulation
Transcriptional control is central to many cellular processes, and, consequently, much effort has been devoted to understanding its underlying mechanisms. The organization of nucleosomes along promoter regions is important for this process, since most transcription factors cannot bind nucleosomal sequences and thus compete with nucleosomes for DNA access. This competition is governed by the rel...
متن کاملBacterial protein translocation: kinetic and thermodynamic role of ATP and the protonmotive force.
The energetic mechanism of preprotein export in Escherichia coli has been a source of controversy for many years. In vitro studies of translocation reactions that use purified soluble and membrane components have not clarified the main features of this mechanism. Translocation occurs through consecutive steps which each have distinct energy requirements. Initiation of translocation requires ATP...
