Reconciling a decelerating Universe with cosmological observations

چکیده
Can modern cosmological observations be reconciled with a general-relativistic Universe without an antigravitating energy source? Usually, the answer to this question by cosmologists is in negative, and it commonly believed that observed excess dimming of supernovae relative Milne model evidence for dark energy. In paper, we develop theorems clarify conditions such dimming, based on which argue above may counterintuitively ``yes.''

Accelerating Universe with dynamic cosmological term Λ
Einstein equations have been solved for some specific dynamical models of the cosmological term Λ. Connecting the free parameters of the models with the cosmic matterand vacuumenergy density parameters it is shown that the models are equivalent. Using the selected models, present values of some of the physical parameters have been estimated and a glimpse of the past decelerating universe has al...
متن کاملInhomogeneous Universe Models with Varying Cosmological Term
The evolution of a class of inhomogeneous spherically symmetric universe models possessing a varying cosmological term and a material fluid, with an adiabatic index either constant or not, is studied.
متن کاملLinear perturbations in a universe with a cosmological constant
We study the linear theory of perturbations in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe with a cosmological constant. We obtain the equations for the evolution of the perturbations in the fully relativistic case, for which we analyze the single-fluid and the two-fluid cases. We obtain solutions to these equations in appropriate limits. We also study the Newtonian approximation. We find that for a ...
متن کاملCosmography, Decelerating Past, and Cosmological Models: Learning the Bayesian Way
In this paper, using a significantly improved version of the model-independent, cosmographic approach to cosmology (John, M. V. 2004, ApJ, 614, 1), we address an important question: Was there a decelerating past for the universe? To answer this, the Bayes’s probability theory is employed, which is the most appropriate tool for quantifying our knowledge when it changes through the acquisition of...
متن کاملThe Spherical Collapse Model in a Universe with Cosmological Constant
The spherical collapse model was first developed by Gunn & Gott 1 for a flat universe with no cosmological constant. It assumes that the process of formation of bound objects in the universe can be at first approximation described by evolution of an uniformly overdense spherical region in otherwise smooth background. Despite its simplicity, the model has been widely used to explain properties o...
