An Emotion Recognition Approach based on Wavelet Transform and Second-Order Difference Plot of ECG
Emotion, as a psychophysiological state, plays an important role in human communications and daily life. Emotion studies related to the physiological signals are recently the subject of many researches. In This study a hybrid feature based approach was proposed to examine affective states. To this effect, Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals of 47 students were recorded using pictorial emotion elici...
متن کاملSecond-order Temporal Pooling for Action Recognition
Most successful deep learning models for action recognition generate predictions for short video clips, which are later aggregated into a longer time-frame action descriptor by computing a statistic over these predictions. Zeroth (max) or first order (average) statistic are commonly used. In this paper, we explore the benefits of using second-order statistics. Specifically, we propose a novel e...
متن کاملRecognition with Second-Order Topographic Surface Features
We previously[3] defined eight second-order volumetric primitives and then showed[4] that they can be extracted from range data. This paper shows that by using them model matching is more efficient, because the shape vocabulary reduces the combinatorial generation of hypotheses. With the model-to-data correspondences, accurate three dimensional model location is possible.

Health care services increasingly face patient populations with high levels of ethnic and cultural diversity. Cultures are associated with distinctive ways of life; concepts of personhood; value systems; and visions of the good that affect illness experience, help seeking, and clinical decision-making. Cultural differences may impede access to health care, accurate diagnosis, and effective trea...
متن کاملMetaphor in intergroup relations
Social and Personality Psychology Compass 2016; 10: 7 Abstract Belonging to groups and relating to other groups are central parts of our lives, but they confront us with abstract ideas (e.g., identity and power) and nebulous feelings. To make sense of it all, people rely on conceptual metaphors: cognitive tools that ground abstractions in dissimilar, more concrete ideas that are easier to grasp...
