Receptor-Like Kinase (RLK) as a candidate gene conferring resistance to Hemileia vastatrix in coffee

چکیده
The biotrophic fungus Hemileia vastatrix causes coffee leaf rust (CLR), one of the most devastating diseases in Coffea arabica . Coffee, like other plants, has developed effective mechanisms to recognize and respond infections caused by pathogens. Plant resistance gene analogs (RGAs) have been identified certain plants as candidates for ( R ) genes or membrane receptors that activate genes. RGAs different possess conserved domains play specific roles fight against Despite importance RGAs, these molecular disease are still unknown. This study aimed sequence characterize candidate from with potential involvement H. Sequencing was performed based on a library bacterial artificial chromosomes (BAC) clone ‘Híbrido de Timor’ (HdT) CIFC 832/2 screened using functional marker. Two HdT_LRR_RLK1 HdT_LRR_RLK2, containing motif leucine-rich repeat-like kinase (LRR-RLK) were identified. Based presence absence HdT_LRR_RLK2 RGA number differential clones combinations gene, did not correspond any already characterized (SH1-9). Transferability of SSR markers from related Uredinales species to the coffee rust Hemileia vastatrix.
The aim of the present research was to test the transferability of simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers developed in two Uredinales species to Hemileia vastatrix, coffee rust. The development of efficient techniques for the identification of H. vastatrix isolates is imperative, given the continuous development of new races. The transferability of 25 SSR markers developed in the related Uredinal...

متن کاملCryptosexuality and the Genetic Diversity Paradox in Coffee Rust, Hemileia vastatrix
BACKGROUND Despite the fact that coffee rust was first investigated scientifically more than a century ago, and that the disease is one of the major constraints to coffee production--constantly changing the socio-economic and historical landscape of the crop--critical aspects of the life cycle of the pathogen, Hemileia vastatrix, remain unclear. The asexual urediniospores are regarded as the on...
متن کاملEvidence for hyperparasitism of coffee rust (Hemileia vastatrix) by the entomogenous fungus, Lecanicillium lecanii, through a complex ecological web
The entomogenous fungus, Lecanicillium lecanii is hyperparasitic on Hemileia vastatrix , the cause of coffee leaf rust in the laboratory, and has frequently been observed attacking it in the field. The existence of a complex ecological web involving the spatially clustered mutualism of an ant ( Azteca instabilis ) with a scale insect ( Coccus viridis ), where the scale insect was infected by L....
متن کاملAnnotation of a hybrid partial genome of the coffee rust (Hemileia vastatrix) contributes to the gene repertoire catalog of the Pucciniales
Coffee leaf rust caused by the fungus Hemileia vastatrix is the most damaging disease to coffee worldwide. The pathogen has recently appeared in multiple outbreaks in coffee producing countries resulting in significant yield losses and increases in costs related to its control. New races/isolates are constantly emerging as evidenced by the presence of the fungus in plants that were previously r...
