Recent Breakthrough of Bismuth-Based Nanostructured Materials for Multimodal Theranostic Applications

Cancer is a lethal disease ravaging mankind claiming millions of lives. Most frequent methods management include surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or combination all the above-mentioned methods. However, there no specific medication available to cure this condition completely and several compounds drugs are constantly explored for their therapeutic effects. Recently, photothermal therapy, photodynamic targeted drug delivery, hyperthermia have shown be great interest in cancer treatment. In direction, bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) nanoparticles can promising option treatment diagnosis as well. Bi well-known radioactive isotope; emits high-energy gamma (γ) rays affected cells. This technology pair with existing chemotherapy enhance efficacy.
