Recent Applications of Antireflection Coatings in Solar Cells

The antireflection coating (ARC) suppresses surface light loss and thus improves the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of solar cells, which is its essential function. This paper reviews latest applications optical thin films in different types cells summarizes experimental data. Basic theories designing coatings, commonly used materials, their classic combinations are introduced. Since single double coatings no longer meet research needs terms effect bandwidth, current mainly concentrates on multiple layer for example, adjusting porosity or material components to achieve a better refractive index matching reflection effect. However, blindly stacking unfeasible, stress superposition would allow film fail quickly. gradient (GRIN) structure almost eliminates interface, significantly adhesion permeability efficiency. high-low-high-low (HLHL) achieves considerable with fewer materials while selecting opposite properties ease management. more sophisticated techniques needed prepare these two structures. Furthermore, using reduce impact hotspot worthy attention.
