Indian Samkhya, Nyaya, Vaisheshika identified or fie (Tejas) as one key elements among elementary things universe. pioneering results optics spectroscopy witnessed era stellar people like Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose C V Raman. research has then taken a new directive into development nonlinear photonics after invention laser. present article reviews past few decades works Prof. D Narayana Rao, an experimental physicist, context India. most notable contributions Prof introduced for time, are white-light interferometry, degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM), electric field induced second harmonic generation (EFISHG), incoherent laser (using dye laser), femtosecond lasers creating nano/microstructures.
