What justifies holding the person that we are today morally responsible for something did a year ago? And why justified in showing prudential concern future welfare of will be from now? These questions cannot systematically pursued without addressing problem personal identity. In pursuing this problem, essay considers whether Buddhist Reductionism, philosophical project grounded on idea persons reduce to set bodily, sensory, perceptual, dispositional, and conscious elements, provides support Parfit’s psychological criteria It examines role self-consciousness plays mediating both self-concern others, offers an argument how reductionism about substantive or enduring selves may reconciled with irreducibility as experiential dimension subjectivity.
