Realizing the Social Dimension of EU Coastal Water Management

چکیده
In the last 20 years, EU has adopted some rather ambitious pieces of legislation with aim to achieve a good environmental status in freshwater and marine ecosystems. Both Water Framework Directive (WFD) Marine Strategy (MSFD) have strong focus on natural environment biological criteria for assessing relevant same time period, much research governance focused interconnectedness social systems ecosystems, so-called social-ecological (SES). While having high aspirations, legal frameworks underpinning current water management do not necessarily reflect advances contemporary science relating SES. Using geographical intersection two directives, i.e., coastal waters as focal point, paper explores inchoate integration ecological perspectives governance. What are main challenges regimes managing way that builds understanding interconnected? Having explored introduces possibility using spatial planning (MSP), directive establishing framework maritime (MSPD) bridge between dimensions discusses what implications this would system governing Europe.

The beautiful coast of Kerala is as much a part of the unique dynamics of Kerala's social history as its natural history. The several ports on the coast facilitated commercial and cultural links of a population confined between the idyllic Western Ghats ranges and the Arabian Sea. These links extended to almost all the major ancient civilizations in the world. The fortuitous winds blowing over ...

While water budgets, supply and demand balances are in principle straight forward mass budget problems and amenable to quantitative analysis, the socio-economic framework that ultimately drives the water resources management introduces another laye...

Water demandmanagement has been a concern of economic planners as a new approach in environmentaleconomics. This study aims to investigate water demand management in different productmarkets in downstream of Yengejeh Dam in Neyshabur. This is an...
متن کاملEstimating the Potential for Conjunctive Water Management in Coastal Plains
This paper presents the development and application of a conjunctive water management model for lowland catchments. The model incorporates a simulation model and a management model to simulate groundwater movement, ground consolidation and to search for the potential pumping amount of groundwater without violating physical and environmental constraints. The results reveal that groundwater level...
