چکیده

PurposeCarpometacarpal (CMC) arthroplasty is an effective surgical treatment for osteoarthritis of the CMC joint. Risk factors readmission and reoperation have been studied other joint procedures but not yet arthroplasty. The purpose this study was to identify patient demographics comorbidities associated with 30-day after arthroplasty.MethodsThe American College Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database queried all records patients who underwent between 2015 2020. Variables collected in included demographics, comorbidities, characteristics, postsurgical complication data. Multivariate logistic regression used independent associations characteristics arthroplasty.ResultsIn total, 6,432 were study: 34 (0.5%) readmitted within 30 days, 27 (0.4%) days. Compared non-readmission cohort, cohort significantly higher rates age ≥ 75 years (P = .003), body mass index (BMI) 40 kg/m2 .005), Society Anesthesiologists classification (ASA) 3; P < .001), insulin-dependent diabetes .016), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; .009). non-reoperation BMI ASA 3 (p COPD .009).ConclusionThe clinically significant predictors 30-reoperation years, kg/m2, 3, diabetes, COPD. Of these risk factors, identified as readmission. A better understanding presurgical complications may help surgeons stratification optimization outcomes.Type study/level evidencePrognostic III. Carpometacarpal In outcomes.

Mortality, readmission, and reoperation after hip fracture in nonagenarians

BACKGROUND Osteoporotic hip fractures are associated with high mortality and morbidity in people of advanced age; however, few studies have investigated the complication rates in nonagenarians. In this study, we applied a competing risk analysis to estimate the mortality, readmission, and reoperation rates after surgery for hip fracture among nonagenarians. METHODS A total of 11,184 nonagenar...
