چکیده
The Front Cover shows a captivating image of two gears intricately interlocking and merging into one another. Metaphorically, gear represents the concept free aluminylene, while other embodies diverse boron Lewis acids. As these unite, they give rise to distinct forms aluminum−boron-bonded compounds. One variant encompasses an aluminum−boron electron-sharing bond, manifests dative bond. This direct uncomplicated synthetic pathway offers convenient means obtain exceptionally uncommon species. Contrasting Frustrated Lewis Pair Reactivity with Selenium‐ and Boron‐Based Lewis Acids
The activation of π-bonds in diynyl esters has been investigated by using soft and hard Lewis acids. In the case of the soft selenium Lewis acid PhSeCl, sequential activation of the alkyne bonds leads initially to an isocoumarin (1 equiv PhSeCl) and then to a tetracyclic conjugated structure with the isocoumarin subunit fused to a benzoselenopyran (3 equiv PhSeCl). Conversely, the reaction with...
متن کاملMetal-free electrocatalytic hydrogen oxidation using frustrated Lewis pairs and carbon-based Lewis acids.
Whilst hydrogen is a potentially clean fuel for energy storage and utilisation technologies, its conversion to electricity comes at a high energetic cost. This demands the use of rare and expensive precious metal electrocatalysts. Electrochemical-frustrated Lewis pairs offer a metal-free, CO tolerant pathway to the electrocatalysis of hydrogen oxidation. They function by combining the hydrogen-...
متن کاملReactivity of α-hydroxy Acids towards Piperidinium Chlorochromate Oxidation
The kinetics of oxidations of α-hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid, lactic acid and mandelic acids with piperidiniumchlorochromate has been studied in aqueous acetic acid medium. The reaction order is one with respect to oxidant, substrate and fractional order with respect to hydrogen ion concentration. Decrease in dielectric constant of the medium increases the rate of reaction. No appreciabl...
متن کاملDioxygen reactivity with a ferrocene-Lewis acid pairing: reduction to a boron peroxide in the presence of tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane.
Ferrocenes, which are typically air-stable outer-sphere single-electron transfer reagents, were found to react with dioxygen in the presence of B(C6 F5 )3 , a Lewis acid unreactive to O2 , to generate bis(borane) peroxide. Although several Group 13 peroxides have been reported, boron-supported peroxides are rare, with no structurally characterized examples of the BO2 B moiety. The synthesis of ...
متن کاملGold-catalyzed allylation of aryl boronic acids: accessing cross-coupling reactivity with gold.
A sp(3)-sp(2) C-C cross-coupling reaction catalyzed by gold in the absence of a sacrificial oxidant is described. Vital to the success of this method is the implementation of a bimetallic catalyst bearing a bis(phosphino)amine ligand. A mechanistic hypothesis is presented, and observable transmetalation, C-Br oxidative addition, and C-C reductive elimination in a model gold complex are shown. W...
