Rational Pulse Design for Enantiomer-Selective Microwave Three-Wave Mixing

نویسندگان

چکیده

Microwave three-wave mixing allows for enantiomer-selective excitation of randomly oriented chiral molecules into rotational states with different energy. The random orientation is reflected in the degeneracy spectrum respect to orientational quantum number M and reduces, if not accounted for, enantiomer-selectivity. Here, we show how design pulse sequences maximal enantiomer-selectivity from an analysis M-dependence Rabi frequencies associated transitions induced by resonant microwave drives. We compare excitations schemes that at a given temperature achieved synchronized circularly polarized fields.

Sensitive chiral analysis via microwave three-wave mixing.

We demonstrate chirality-induced three-wave mixing in the microwave regime, using rotational transitions in cold gas-phase samples of 1,2-propanediol and 1,3-butanediol. We show that bulk three-wave mixing, which can only be realized in a chiral environment, provides a sensitive, species-selective probe of enantiomeric excess and is applicable to a broad class of molecules. The doubly resonant ...

Ultrafast temporal pulse shaping via phase-sensitive three-wave mixing.

It is well-known that the process of optical parametric amplification (OPA) can be sensitive to the phases of the incident waves. In OPA realized by three-wave mixing, injection of all three waves into the same mode with appropriate phase relationship results in amplification of the signal phase, with an associated deamplification of the signal energy. Prospects for the use of this technique in...

Controllable microwave three-wave mixing via a single three-level superconducting quantum circuit

Three-wave mixing in second-order nonlinear optical processes cannot occur in atomic systems due to the electric-dipole selection rules. In contrast, we demonstrate that second-order nonlinear processes can occur in a superconducting quantum circuit (i.e., a superconducting artificial atom) when the inversion symmetry of the potential energy is broken by simply changing the applied magnetic flu...

Rational design of metallic nanocavities for resonantly enhanced four-wave mixing

Optimizing the shape of nanostructures and nano-antennas for specific optical properties has evolved to be a very fruitful activity. With modern fabrication tools a large variety of possibilities is available for shaping both nanoparticles and nanocavities; in particular nanocavities in thin metal films have emerged as attractive candidates for new metamaterials and strong linear and nonlinear ...
