Random walks, WPD actions, and the Cremona group

چکیده
We study random walks on the Cremona group. show that almost surely dynamical degree of a sequence transformations grows exponentially fast, and walk produces infinitely many different normal subgroups with probability 1. Moreover, we structure such subgroups. prove these results in general for groups isometries (non-proper) hyperbolic spaces which possess at least one WPD element. As another application, answer question Margalit showing subgroup mapping class group is free.

Random Walks on Dicyclic Group
In this paper I work out the rate of convergence of a non-symmetric random walk on the dicyclic group (Dicn) and that of its symmetric analogue on the same group. The analysis is via group representation techniques from Diaconis (1988) and closely follows the analysis of random walk on cyclic group in Chapter 3C of Diaconis. I find that while the mixing times (the time for the random walk to ge...
متن کاملRandom walks on the mapping class group
We show that a random walk on the mapping class group of an orientable surface gives rise to a pseudo-Anosov element with asymptotic probability one. Our methods apply to many subgroups of the mapping class group, including the Torelli group.
متن کاملGroup Recommendations: Axioms, Impossibilities, and Random Walks
We introduce an axiomatic approach to group recommendations, in line of previous work on the axiomatic treatment of trust-based recommendation systems, ranking systems, and other foundational work on the axiomatic approach to internet mechanisms in social choice settings. In group recommendations we wish to recommend to a group of agents, consisting of both opinionated and undecided members, a ...
متن کاملEntropy for random group actions
We consider the entropy of systems of random transformations, where the transformations are chosen from the set of generators of a Z action. We show that the classical definition gives unsatisfactory entropy results in the higher-dimensional case, i.e. when d ≥ 2. We propose a new definition of the entropy for random group actions which agrees with the classical definition in the one-dimensiona...
متن کاملA PRELUDE TO THE THEORY OF RANDOM WALKS IN RANDOM ENVIRONMENTS
A random walk on a lattice is one of the most fundamental models in probability theory. When the random walk is inhomogenous and its inhomogeniety comes from an ergodic stationary process, the walk is called a random walk in a random environment (RWRE). The basic questions such as the law of large numbers (LLN), the central limit theorem (CLT), and the large deviation principle (LDP) are ...
