Random effects in dynamic network actor models

چکیده
Abstract Dynamic Network Actor Models (DyNAMs) assume that an observed sequence of relational events is the outcome actor-oriented decision process consisting two levels. The first level represents time until actor initiates next event, modeled by exponential distribution with actor-specific activity rate. second describes choice receiver a conditional multinomial logit model. DyNAM assumes parameters are constant over actors and context. This homogeneity assumption, albeit statistically computationally convenient, difficult to justify, e.g., in presence unobserved differences between or contexts. In this paper, we extend DyNAMs including random-effects vary across contexts allow controlling for unknown sources heterogeneity. We illustrate model analyzing among users online community aspiring professional digital graphic designers.

Random Effects Models for Network Data
One impediment to the statistical analysis of network data has been the difficulty in modeling the dependence among the observations. In the very simple case of binary (0-1) network data, some researchers have parameterized network dependence in terms of exponential family representations. Accurate parameter estimation for such models is quite difficult, and the most commonly used models often ...
متن کاملStochastic actor-oriented models for network change
A class of models is proposed for longitudinal network data. These models are along the lines of methodological individualism: actors use heuristics to try to achieve their individual goals, subject to constraints. The current network structure is among these constraints. The models are continuous time Markov chain models that can be implemented as simulation models. They incorporate random cha...
متن کاملTesting for Autocorrelation in Dynamic Random Effects Models
This article develops tests of covariance restrictions after estimating by three-stage least squares a dynamic random effects model from panel data. The asymptotic distribution of covariance matrix estimates under non-normality is obtained. It is shown how minimum chi-square tests for interesting covariance restrictions can be calculated from a generalised linear regression involving the sample...
متن کاملRepresenting Humans in System Security Models: An Actor-Network Approach
System models to assess the vulnerability of information systems to security threats typically represent a physical infrastructure (buildings) and a digital infrastructure (computers and networks), in combination with an attacker traversing the system while acquiring credentials. Other humans are generally not included, as their behaviour is considered more difficult to express. We propose a gr...
متن کاملDynamic random effects models for times between repeated events.
We consider recurrent event data when the duration or gap times between successive event occurrences are of intrinsic interest. Subject heterogeneity not attributed to observed covariates is usually handled by random effects which result in an exchangeable correlation structure for the gap times of a subject. Recently, efforts have been put into relaxing this restriction to allow non-exchangeab...
