چکیده
We present an analysis of ground deformation induced by large-scale seasonal rainfall in Southern Africa, based on GPS and GRACE time series simulations elastic flexural response to hydrological loading. This study including South Zambia, Angola, North Namibia Botswana displays a latitudinal precipitation gradient between tropical semi-arid conditions. data display annual variations water mass decreasing drastically southwards. three permanent stations located show synchronous vertical displacements with amplitude southwards from 4 2 cm, shift 2–3 months the main season. Flexure integrating rainfall, evapotranspiration, storage, flood migration river output produce flexure up 6 cm timing agreement series. It highlights buffering surface aquifer Kalahari sands.

Rabies in southern Africa.
The first confirmed outbreak of rabies in Africa, believed to have followed the importation of an infected dog from England in 1892, occurred in the eastern Cape Province of South Africa, and was brought under control in 1894. An unconfirmed epidemic of rabies in dogs occurred in western Zambia in 1901. By the following year the disease had apparently spread along a major trade route, to cause ...
متن کاملGround Deformation Mapping Using Insar
SAR interferometric data can be used for extracting three dimensional information of the earth’s surface by using the phase part of the radar signal. In this study, available SAR interferometric data acquired before and after the Marmara earthquake of 1999 and provided by ESA were used for mapping the ground deformation in the satellite line of sight (LOS) in the Izmit province. The interferome...
متن کاملAn exploration of cultural beliefs and practices across the Southern Ground-Hornbill’s range in Africa
BACKGROUND This article explores cultural beliefs and practices related to the Southern Ground-Hornbill (SGH) (Bucorvus leadbeateri) in nine southern and east-African countries. METHODS A qualitative, thematic content-analysis approach was followed. Ninety-eight participants took part in the study. Interviews and group discussions were used as the main data gathering methods. Each interview w...
متن کاملPediatric Asthma in Southern Africa
Pediatric asthma has been well researched and actively managed in Southern Africa for many years. From the earliest study of asthma prevalence in 1979 revealing a significant rural – urban asthma gradient to more recent studies suggesting that asthma now abounds in all population and socio-economic groups, Southern Africa has been the subject of a significant number of publications relating to ...
