Radio emission from dust-obscured galaxies

چکیده
The coevolution of galaxies and their central supermassive black holes is a subject intense research. A class objects, the dust-obscured (DOGs) are particularly interesting in this respect as they thought to represent short evolutionary phase when violent star formation activity host galaxy may coexist with matter accretion onto hole powering active nucleus. Here we investigate different types DOGs classified by mid-infrared spectral energy distributions reveal whether can be distinguished arcsec-scale radio properties. HerMES: the far-infrared emission from dust-obscured galaxies
Dust-obscured galaxies (DOGs) are an ultraviolet-faint, infrared-bright galaxy population that reside at z ∼ 2 and are believed to be in a phase of dusty star-forming and active galactic nucleus (AGN) activity. We present far-infrared (far-IR) observations of a complete sample of DOGs in the 2 deg of the Cosmic Evolution Survey. The 3077 DOGs have 〈z〉 = 1.9 ± 0.3 and are selected from 24μm and r...
متن کاملThe Pedigrees of DOGs (Dust-Obscured Galaxies)
A simple mid-infrared to optical color criterion of R − [24] ≥ 14 results in a robust selection of approximately half of the z ∼ 2 ultraluminous infrared galaxy (ULIRG) population. These ‘Dust-Obscured Galaxies’, or DOGs, have various properties that suggest that they are good candidates for systems in a transition phase between gas-rich mergers and QSOs.
متن کاملDust emission from 3C radio galaxies and quasars: New ISO observations favour the unified scheme
In order to test the unified scheme for luminous radio galaxies and quasars we observed 10 galaxy/quasar pairs from the 3CR catalogue with ISOPHOT at infrared wavelengths between 5 and 180 μm. Each pair was selected such that both the 178 MHz luminosity and the redshift match as close as possible between the radio galaxy and the quasar in order to minimize effects of cosmic evolution. 13 of the...
متن کاملA New Ultra-dense Group of Obscured Emission-Line Galaxies
We present the discovery of an isolated compact group of galaxies that is extremely dense (median projected galaxy separation: 6.9 kpc), has a very low velocity dispersion (σ2D = 67 km s −1), and where all observed members show emission lines and are morphologically disturbed. These properties, together with the lack of spirals and the presence of a prominent tidal tail make this group one of t...
متن کاملInfrared Luminosities and Dust Properties of Z ≈ 2 Dust-obscured Galaxies
We present SHARC-II 350μm imaging of twelve 24μm-bright (F24μm > 0.8 mJy) Dust-Obscured Galaxies (DOGs) and CARMA 1mm imaging of a subset of 2 DOGs. These objects are selected from the Boötes field of the NOAO Deep Wide-Field Survey. Detections of 4 DOGs at 350μm imply infrared (IR) luminosities which are consistent to within a factor of 2 of expectations based on a warm dust spectral energy di...
