Pulsar spectra of radio emission
We have collected pulsar flux density observations and compiled spectra of 281 objects. The database of Lorimer et al. (1995) has been extended to frequencies higher than 1.4 GHz and lower than 300 MHz. Our results show that above 100 MHz the spectra of the majority of pulsars can be described by a simple power law with average value of spectral index < α >= −1.8 ± 0.2. A rigorous analysis of s...
متن کاملA model of so-called “Zebra” emissions in solar flare radio burst continua
A simple mechanism for the generation of electromagnetic “Zebra” pattern emissions is proposed. “Zebra” bursts are regularly spaced narrow-band radio emissions on the otherwise broadband radio continuum emitted by the active solar corona. The mechanism is based on the generation of an ion-ring distribution in a magnetic mirror geometry in the presence of a properly directed field-aligned electr...
متن کاملPolarization Patterns in Pulsar Radio Emission
A variety of intriguing polarization patterns are created when polarization observations of the single pulses from radio pulsars are displayed in a twodimensional projection of the Poincaré sphere. In many pulsars, the projections produce two clusters of data points that reside at antipodal points on the sphere. The clusters are formed by fluctuations in polarization amplitude that are parallel...
متن کاملQuadrature Amplitude Modulated Digital Radio Transmission Modeling and Simulation
Computer aided design and computer aided modeling tools are becoming increasingly important in the design and performance evaluation of communication systems. In this work, we report on the computer simulation modeling study of terrestrial digital microwave radio transmission, using Block Oriented System Simulator package (BOSS). The work concentrates on semi-analytical error rate evaluation in...
متن کاملGeometrical effects on radio pulsar profiles and spectra
Considering the geometry of the hollow-cone model of radio pulsar emission in detail, one is led to the conclusion that severalwell-knownobserved effectsmay be explained quite easily purely on geometrical terms. It can be shown e.g. that the appearance of outriders at high frequencies and a steepening of the whole spectrum (cut-off) must be expected for certain geometrical situations as well as...
