Radial Artery Occlusion Following Cardiac Catheterization by Conventional Radial Approach versus Distal Radial Approach: Incidence and Predictors
نویسندگان
چکیده
Purpose: In comparison to transfemoral approach, transradial access (TRA) has developed be the conventional entry site and is quickly expanding. Radial artery occlusion (RAO) which can occur during intervention, impairs radial (RA) future site, prohibits from being used as an arterial conduit. Aim of this research was comparing incidence predictors RAO among individuals receiving elective cardiac catheterization by vs distal access.
Methodology: This prospective study enrolled 120 patients June 2022 January 2023 (84 males, 36 females; mean age 68.5 (10.4) years with 62 had via approach (CRA) others (DRA). Clinical follow up at 24 hours 30 days recorded analysis all included participants.
Findings: reported no substantial difference groups in terms socio-demographic clinical characteristics. Time sheath insertion Procedure time were long who Distal statistically significant (P <0.01). Moreover, higher CRA than those DRA >0.05). demonstrated that significantly high younger patients, smoker, DM previous CAD. Also, hemostasis <0.05). Smoking, DM, increased diminished blood supply wrist throughout strong for occlusion.
Recommendations: Maintaining patency must done procedures using approach. may useful lower through shortening sustaining flow hemostasis. Encouraging interventional cardiologists more practicing about utilizing recommended due its advantages like safety less vascular complications.

Incidence and Predictors of Radial Artery Occlusion Associated Transradial Catheterization
In this study, we sought to assess the incidence and predictors of radial artery occlusion (RAO), which is a significant complication of transradial cardiac catheterization. We prospectively evaluated the results of 106 patients who underwent coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) via the transradial approach (TRA). At the 3(rd) h of intervention, the radial artery wa...
متن کاملIncidence of radial artery occlusion in radial angiography compared with snuffbox angiography
Background: Transradial access is one of the main access techniques in angiography. This method is technically more difficult as it is associated with radial artery occlusion. Radial artery cannulation from the dorsal surface of the hand in the snuffbox area has been introduced as a suitable solution to overcome some of the disadvantages of the standard radial artery method. This study was cond...
متن کاملThe Radial Approach in the Cardiac Catheterization
The radial or transradial (TR) approach for coronary angiography was first described by Campeau in 1989 [1], and the technique was extended to percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and stenting by Kiemeneij and Laarman since 1993 [2]. Many studies and meta-analyses have compared the TR approach with the former approaches, specially the transfemoral (TF). The most recent data wil...
متن کاملArteriovenous fistula after cardiac catheterization from a radial approach.
A 55 year old woman was admitted with acute anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Treatment with aspirin, clopidogrel, heparin and eptifibatide was initiated and an emergent cardiac catheterization was performed from the right radial approach using a Terumo 6-Fr 10 cm hydrophilic sheath. She had severely reduced left ventricular function and thrombotic occlusion of proximal left anterior...
متن کاملThe long-term incidence and predictors of radial artery occlusion following a transradial coronary procedure.
BACKGROUND Radial artery occlusion (RAO) is an infrequent complication of transradial coronary procedures (TRA). To our knowledge, there is no satisfactory data regarding the late term incidence and predictors of RAO in the literature. Our aim was to establish the long-term incidence of radial artery occlusion and investigate its predictors. METHODS This was a single center prospective study....
