Quinoid-viologen conjugates: Redox properties and host-guest complex with cucurbiturils

چکیده

Viologens are known as an excellent electron acceptor and a versatile supramolecular building block, the physical property of which can be tuned by varying N-substitution. Herein, we present class unprecedented quinoid-viologen conjugates wherein quinoidal unit is incorporated part extended π-system viologen units through Such molecules show intriguing optical electronic properties inherited from both quinoid constituents, displaying stronger accepting characters, visible absorption, reversible redox activity, modulated electrochromism, characteristic binding towards Cucurbit [n]urils (n = 7 8). This molecular design strategy points to new direction diversify viologens for functional electroactive materials complex architectures.

Solid-phase synthesis of peptide-viologen conjugates.

This paper presents a robust method for the conjugation of viologens to peptides using an amide coupling strategy that is compatible with standard Fmoc solid-phase peptide synthesis. Methodology is presented for monitoring the milligram scale process quantitatively by UV spectroscopy. This chemistry enables the synthesis of a broad range of asymmetric viologens in high yield at room temperature...

Porphyrinic supramolecular daisy chains incorporating pillar[5]arene-viologen host-guest interactions.

A porphyrin functionalised with pillar[5]arene and a viologen at its 5- and 15-meso positions assembles in a head-to-tail manner, producing linear supramolecular daisy chains in dichloromethane. At high concentrations, it forms an organogel which has been investigated by electron microscopy and rheological measurements, paving the way for the preparation of other functional supramolecular assem...

Redox-responsive self-healing materials formed from host–guest polymers

Expanding the useful lifespan of materials is becoming highly desirable, and self-healing and self-repairing materials may become valuable commodities. The formation of supramolecular materials through host-guest interactions is a powerful method to create non-conventional materials. Here we report the formation of supramolecular hydrogels and their redox-responsive and self-healing properties ...

Redox tunable viologen-based porous organic polymers

The use of an organic donor–acceptor polymer containing a viologen electron acceptor and triarylamine electron donor as a platform in the development of multifunctional materials is presented. The highly robust porous organic polymer (POP) system allows for exploration of the interplay between electronic and host–guest interactions in the synthesized polymers, POP-V1, which contains a redox-act...

Synthesis of Oligonucleotide Conjugates Carrying Viologen and Fluores- cent Compounds

The preparation of oligonucleotide conjugates carrying viologen and fluorescein is described. Reaction of the appropriate carboxyl derivatives with oligonucleotides carrying aliphatic amino groups gave the desired compounds. A simple method for the introduction of the amino group at the 5’-end of the oligonucleotides is reported.
