H-Representation of the Kimura-3 Polytope
Given a group-based Markov model on a tree, one can compute the vertex representation of a polytope which describes the associated toric variety. The half-space representation, however, is not easily computable. In the case of Z2 or Z2 × Z2, these polytopes have applications in the field of phylogenetics. We provide a half-space representation for the m-claw tree where G = Z2 × Z2, which corres...
متن کاملQuench and Quench Correction
The TopCount Microplate Scintillation and Luminescence Counter is capable of analyzing radiolabeled microplate samples in a wide variety of formats using liquid and solid scintillation counting techniques. Quench is a common interference in scintillation counting which reduces the sample’s apparent activity. In most applications, the level of quench is constant; hence, it need not be considered...
متن کاملCT of Kimura disease.
Kimura is credited with first describing a condition-eosinophilic granuloma of the soft tissue-that subsequently has been given his name. Since then, more than 500 cases have been reported in review series, mainly in the Chinese and Japanese literature [1]. The disease occurs only in Orientals, and more than 80% of these patients are male. Presentation may occur over a wide age range, but it is...
متن کاملStabilization in H ∞ R ( D )
It is shown that for H∞ R (D) functions f1 and f2 with inf z∈D (|f1(z)|+ |f2(z)|) ≥ δ > 0 and f1 being positive on the real zeros of f2, then there exists H∞ R (D) functions g2 and g1, g−1 1 with norm controlled by a constant depending only on δ and g1f1 + g2f2 = 1 ∀z ∈ D. These results are connected to the computation of the stable rank of the algebra H∞ R (D) and to results in Control Theory.
