Quasiparticle excitations in frustrated antiferromagnets
We have computed the quasiparticle wave function corresponding to a hole injected in a triangular antiferromagnet. We have taken into account multi-magnon contributions within the self consistent Born approximation. We have found qualitative differences, under sign reversal of the integral transfer t, regarding the multi-magnon components and the own existence of the quasiparticle excitations. ...
متن کاملCriticality in Frustrated Quantum Antiferromagnets
Insulating antiferromagnets offer a rich playground to explore novel quantum phases of matter. Triangular lattice s=1/2 antiferromagnets are of especial interest due to their reduced dimensionality, low spin, and frustrating interactions which all conspire to disrupt magnetic order, as found experimentally in several instances. The resulting “quantum disordered” phases are expected to have nove...
متن کاملLongitudinal excitations in quantum antiferromagnets.
By extending our recently proposed magnon-density waves to low dimensions, we investigate, using a microscopic many-body approach, the longitudinal excitations of the quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1d) and quasi-2d Heisenberg antiferromagnetic systems on a bipartite lattice with a general spin quantum number. We obtain the full energy spectrum of the longitudinal mode as a function of the couplin...
متن کاملSpin-lattice coupling in frustrated antiferromagnets
We review the mechanism of spin-lattice coupling in relieving the geometrical frustration of pyrochlore antiferromagnets, in particular spinel oxides. The tetrahedral unit, which is the building block of the pyrochlore lattice, undergoes a spin-driven Jahn-Teller instability when lattice degrees of freedom are coupled to the antiferromagnetism. By restricting our considerations to distortions w...
متن کاملCritical properties of highly frustrated pyrochlore antiferromagnets.
We argue that the analysis of Reimers et al. (1992)] of their Monte Carlo data on the Heisenberg pyrochlore antiferromag-net, which suggests a new universality class, is not conclusive. By re-analysis of their data, we demonstrate asymptotic volume dependence in some ther-modynamic quantities, which suggests the possibility that the transition may be first order.
