Quantum state truncation using an optical parametric amplifier and a beam splitter

چکیده
We present a scheme of quantum state truncation in the Fock basis (quantum scissors), based on combined action nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier and beamsplitter. Differently from previously proposed linear-optics-based scissors devices, which depend reliable states sources, our requires only readily available Gaussian states, such as coherent inputs (vacuum included). A truncated is generated after performing photodetections global state. find that, depending output ports each two photodetectors positioned, different types may be produced: i) having maximum number $N$, or ii) minimum $N$. In order to illustrate method, we discuss an example input beamsplitter vacuum amplifier, show that resulting display nonclassical properties, sub-Poissonian statistics squeezing. quantify nonclassicality degree using Wigner-Yanase skew information measure. For complementarity, efficiency protocol, e.g., generation probability well effects imperfections detector's dark counts rate.

Quantum measurement of amplitude fluctuation is performed by the injection of 2.5-dB amplitude-squeezed light produced by a quantum-well laser into the dark port of a beam splitter as the meter wave. It is shown that the measurements satisfy the criteria of quantum nondemolition measurement. The measured transfer coefficient and the quantum-state preparation ability are 1.07 and 0.8, respectively.
