Quantum state discrimination circuits inspired by Deutschian closed timelike curves

چکیده

It is known that a party with access to Deutschian closed timelike curve (DCTC) can perfectly distinguish multiple nonorthogonal quantum states. In this paper we propose practical method for discriminating states, by using previously circuit designed simulate DCTCs. This relies on copies of an input state, iterations the circuit, and fixed set unitary operations. We first characterize performance study its asymptotic behavior. also show how it be equivalently recast as local adaptive may implemented simply in experiment. Finally, prove our state discrimination strategy achieves Chernoff bound when arbitrary pure qubit

Quantum state cloning using Deutschian closed timelike curves.

We show that it is possible to clone quantum states to arbitrary accuracy in the presence of a Deutschian closed timelike curve (D-CTC), with a fidelity converging to one in the limit as the dimension of the CTC system becomes large--thus resolving an open conjecture [Brun et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 102, 210402 (2009)]. This result follows from a D-CTC-assisted scheme for producing perfect clones...

Quantum coherence and closed timelike curves.

Various calculations of the S matrix have shown that it seems to be non unitary for interacting fields when there are closed timelike curves. It is argued that this is because there is loss of quantum coherence caused by the fact that part of the quantum state circulates on the closed timelike curves and is not measured at infinity. A prescription is given for calculating the superscattering ma...

Closed Timelike Curves

In this paper, we explore the possibility that closed timelike curves might be allowed by the laws of physics. A closed timelike curve is perhaps the closest thing to time travel that general relativity allows. We will begin our discussing just what closed timelike curves are, and in what kinds of contexts they were first shown to appear. We then explore how one might actually travel on a close...

Eigenvalue Formulation of Quantum Mechanics Near Closed Timelike Curves

Einstein’s field equations of gravitation are known to admit closed timelike curve (CTC) solutions. Deutsch approached the problem from the quantum information point of view and proposed a selfconsistency condition. In this work, the Deutsch equation is formulated as an eigenvalue problem. The disappearance of entanglement between two qubits in an Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) state near a CTC ...

Closed Timelike Curves Make Quantum and Classical Computing Equivalent

While closed timelike curves (CTCs) are not known to exist, studying their consequences has led to nontrivial insights in general relativity, quantum information, and other areas. In this paper we show that if CTCs existed, then quantum computers would be no more powerful than classical computers: both would have the (extremely large) power of the complexity class PSPACE, consisting of all prob...
