Quantum computing and quantum communication with atoms
We review recent theoretical proposals for implementation of quantum computing and quantum communication with atoms. The first example deals with the realization of a universal quantum simulator with atoms and ions. The second example outlines the implementation of a quantum repeater with atomic ensembles.
متن کاملQuantum computing with alkaline-Earth-metal atoms.
We present a complete scheme for quantum information processing using the unique features of alkaline-earth-metal atoms. We show how two completely independent lattices can be formed for the 1S0 and 3P0 states, with one used as a storage lattice for qubits encoded on the nuclear spin, and the other as a transport lattice to move qubits and perform gate operations. We discuss how the 3P2 level c...
متن کاملQuantum teleportation with atoms: quantum process tomography
The performance of a quantum teleportation algorithm implemented on an ion trap quantum computer is investigated. First the algorithm is analyzed in terms of the teleportation fidelity of six input states evenly distributed over the Bloch sphere. Furthermore, a quantum process tomography of the teleportation algorithm is carried out which provides almost complete knowledge about the algorithm.
متن کاملQuantum Computing with Neutral Atoms in an Optical Lattice
We present a proposal for quantum information processing with neutral atoms trapped in optical lattices as qubits. Initialization and coherent control of single qubits can be achieved with standard laser cooling and spectroscopic techniques. We consider entangling two-qubit logic gates based on optically induced dipole-dipole interactions, calculating a figure-of-merit for various protocols. Ma...
