Quantum coherence as a signature of chaos

We establish a rigorous connection between quantum coherence and chaos by employing measures originating from the resource theory framework as diagnostic tool for chaos. quantify this at two different levels: states channels. At level of states, we show how several well-studied quantifiers are, in fact, disguise (or closely related to them). further all using tools majorization theory. Then, numerically study chaotic-vs-integrable eigenstates find excellent agreement with random matrix bulk spectrum. channels, that coherence-generating power (CGP) -- measure much dynamical process generates on average emerges subpart out-of-time-ordered correlator (OTOC), information scrambling many-body systems. Via numerical simulations (nonintegrable) transverse-field Ising model, OTOC CGP capture recurrences quantitatively same way. Moreover, theory, analytically characterize CGP-OTOC Haar Gaussian ensembles. In closing, remark our coherence-based signatures relate other diagnostics, namely Loschmidt echo, OTOC, Spectral Form Factor.
