Quantitative Verification for Monitoring Event-Streaming Systems

چکیده

High-performance data streaming technologies are increasingly adopted in IT companies to support the integration of heterogeneous and possibly distributed applications. Compared with traditional message queuing middleware, a platform enables implementation event-streaming systems (ESS) which include not only complex queues but also pipelines that transform react streams data. By analysing centralised streams, one can evaluate Quality-of-Service for other components produce or consume those streams. We consider exploitation probabilistic model checking as performance monitoring technique ESS systems. Probabilistic checking is mature, powerful verification successful application analysis. However, an system may contain quantitative parameters determined by event observed certain period time. In this paper, we present novel theoretical framework called QV4M (meaning “quantitative monitoring”) systems, based on two recent methods probabilistic checking. assumes random variables infers statistical significance output. empirical evaluation computational time cost QV4M.

On Incremental Quantitative Verification for Probabilistic Systems

Quantitative verification techniques offer an effective means of computing performance and reliability properties for a wide range of systems. In many cases, it is necessary to perform repeated analyses of a system, for example to identify trends in results, determine optimal system parameters or when performing online analysis for adaptive systems. We argue the need for incremental quantitativ...

Quantitative Multi-objective Verification for Probabilistic Systems

We present a verification framework for analysing multiple quantitative objectives of systems that exhibit both nondeterministic and stochastic behaviour. These systems are modelled as probabilistic automata, enriched with cost or reward structures that capture, for example, energy usage or performance metrics. Quantitative properties of these models are expressed in a specification language th...

Event Processing and Real-Time Monitoring over Streaming Traffic Data

Tracking mobility of humans, animals or merchandise has recently given rise to a wide variety of location-based services and monitoring applications. In this paper, we particularly focus on real-time traffic surveillance over densely congested road networks in large metropolitan areas. In such a setting, streaming positional updates are being frequently relayed into a central server from numero...

Quantitative Verification of System Safety in Event-B

Certification of safety-critical systems requires formal verification of system properties and behaviour as well as quantitative demonstration of safety. Usually, formal modelling frameworks do not include quantitative assessment of safety. This has a negative impact on productivity and predictability of system development. In this paper we present an approach to integrating quantitative safety...

EVENT - TRIGGERED ENVIRONMENTS FOR VERIFICATION OF REAL - TIME SYSTEMS Darren

The growing complexity and the safety-critical requirements of the embedded software in avionics systems present many challenges to current test-based verification technology. The use of formal verification methods can increase design assurance by exploring a larger range of system behaviors and fault conditions than can feasibly be covered by testing or simulation. However, one of the most cha...
