چکیده
Road dust is an important source of resuspended particulate matter (PM) but information lacking on the chemical composition ultrafine particle fraction (UFP; <0.1 µm). This study investigated metal concentrations in UFP isolated from “dust box” sweepings collected by City Toronto, Canada, using regenerative-air-street sweepers. Dust box samples expressway, arterial and local roads were aerosolized laboratory separated into thirteen size fractions ranging 10 nm to µm (PM10). The accounted for about 2% total mass PM10 (range 0.23–8.36%). Elemental analysis ICP-MS ICP-OES revealed a marked enrichment Cd, Cr, Zn V concentration compared material (nano ratio ≥ 2). contained two times more nine Cr than roads. highest median was observed municipal attributed greater volumes traffic, including light heavy duty vehicles, higher speeds. elevated transition metals are human health concern, given their potential cause oxidative stress lung cells.

Assessment of Heavy Metals in Road Dust of Behbahan City, Iran: Distribution, Sources and Health Risks
Introduction: Road dust is a group of solid particles that are presented in the urban areas and are originated from both natural and human-induced sources. This study aims to determine concentrations of heavy metals in urban dusts in Behbahan to identify their natural or anthropogenic sources. Materials and Methods: In this study, a total of 20 samples were collected from main roads with diffe...

Ultrafine-grained (UFG) metallic materials are at the cutting edge of modern materials science as they exhibit outstanding properties which make them very interesting for prospective structural or functional engineering applications. Due to the progress in severe plastic deformation techniques during the last decade, ultrafine-grained microstructures are no longer only restricted to easy to def...
متن کاملUltrafine particles in cities.
Ultrafine particles (UFPs; diameter less than 100 nm) are ubiquitous in urban air, and an acknowledged risk to human health. Globally, the major source for urban outdoor UFP concentrations is motor traffic. Ongoing trends towards urbanisation and expansion of road traffic are anticipated to further increase population exposure to UFPs. Numerous experimental studies have characterised UFPs in in...
