QUALTITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATION OF TERPENOID CONTENTS IN SOME IMPORTANT PLANTS OF PUNJAB, PAKISTAN

 Terpenoid contents of traditionally used ethnobotanically important plants (n=25) were determined. Ethanol extracts seeds, fruits, pods, branches, bark, rhizome and whole plant parts prepared preliminary phytochemical investigation was carried out. Total terpenoid in ethanol determined through qualitative quantitative analytical assay by Salkowski test. Results analysis revealed that the pods fruits rich contents. Whereas extract showed fruit Carissa carandas Lodoicea maldivica seeds Erysimum cheiri, Fagonia arabica branches Withania somnifera had 80% total terpenoids While, Ceiba speciosa contained 77%, Berberis lyceum, flower Rosa indica Diospyros peregrina 70% all other selected ranged from 60 to 40%. This study would be helpful determination therapeutic bioactive could isolated for mankind welfare.
