Quality Control of Pre-stressed Concrete Sleepers in Sudan Railways

Nowadays, railway transport plays a very important role in the system period of positive growth commerce, economy and industry. In accordance with other modes transport, is most stable mode for transporting, safety, capability carrying, social economic benefits. Sleepers have major roles complex distributed load from rails when train goes through to ballast. This study discussed pre-stressed concrete sleepers Sudan railways compare them varies taken consideration service life, handling, weight sleeper, damage, suitability fastening vibration resistance. On side explained manufacturing stages that undergoes quality control accompanying them. A numerical static analysis mono-block sleeper carried out using finite element package named "ANSYS 15". Using SOLID65 solid element, compressive strength facilitated plasticity algorithm while cracking tension zone accommodated by nonlinear material model. Since section fully nature, smeared crack analogy impracticable. Discrete reinforcement modeling truss elements, LINK8, then more suitable utilize. Perfect bonding presumed herein between pre-stressing wires. Thus, results evaluate effect cables deformed shape, strains, stress are compared sleepers. Therefore, insight into behaviors will not only result safer reliable design method infrastructure, but it can also translate apply civil structures.
