Quadriceps Avoidance After Total Knee Arthroplasty: Descriptive Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Quadriceps avoidance is a reflex deficit disorder of quadriceps activation after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) that can lead to abnormal gait kinematics. It patient apprehension due pain, prevent induces deforming forces at the joint. Aim: To describe frequency ‘quadriceps avoidance’ among patients arthroplasty. Study Design: Descriptive case series. Methodology: The study sample size comprised 55 post-TKA (Male: 16; Female: 39), who were ages 40-80 years. Participants recruited had undergone unilateral replacement and attended an outpatient physiotherapy clinic Ghurki trust teaching hospital Surgimed Lahore. gait’ testing approximately 02 weeks 01 month postoperatively by using diagnostic observational questionnaire, designed according analysis. Data was evaluated SPSS version 23. All qualitative data presented in form quantitative mean±SD. Results: Mean age 58.98 with range minimum 40 years maximum 80 Out 55, 25 (45.5%) diagnosed TKA, 11(20%) male out 16 14 (25.5%) female 39 which showed ‘stiff pattern. Conclusion: concluded one major complication pattern joint deformities if left uncorrected. Keywords: Total arthroplasty, avoidance, Gait kinematics, kinetic

Quadriceps and hamstrings muscle dysfunction after total knee arthroplasty.
BACKGROUND/RATIONALE Although TKA reliably reduces pain from knee osteoarthritis, full recovery of muscle strength and physical function to normal levels is rare. We presumed that a better understanding of acute changes in hamstrings and quadriceps muscle performance would allow us to enhance early rehabilitation after TKA and improve long-term function. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES The purposes of thi...

Objective: The aim of this study was to validate the well-recognized outcome measure instruments (Medical Outcome Study Short Form-SF-36, Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index-WOMAC, McMaster Toronto Arthritis Patient Preference Disability Questionnaire-MACTAR) for patients who had undergone total knee arthroplasty in Iran, with its cultural and ethnic differences and com...
متن کاملKnee Fusion or Above-The-Knee Amputation after Failed Two-Stage Reimplantation Total Knee Arthroplasty
Prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a serious complication of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Control of infection after a failed two-stage TKA is not always possible, and the resolution of infection may require an above-knee amputation (AKA) or a the-knee (KF). The purpose of this review is to determine which treatment method (AKA or KF) yields better function and ambulatory status for patients...
متن کاملDislocation after total knee arthroplasty.
Two cases of dislocation of total knee arthroplasty presented to us within the same week. The first patient is a 71-year-old woman who underwent bilateral primary total knee arthroplasty. The left knee dislocated three weeks after the surgery. Due to failure of conservative measures, she underwent revision total knee arthroplasty. The other patient is a 72-year-old woman presenting ten years af...
