Py-GC-MS Study on Catalytic Pyrolysis of Biocrude Obtained via HTL of Fruit Pomace

Herein, we proposed new two-stage processing of blackcurrant pomace toward a value-added, hydrocarbon-rich biocrude fraction. The approach consisted thermochemical liquefaction wet-type organic matter into liquid followed by its upgrade thermal and catalytic pyrolysis. Particularly, put effort investigating the effect selected catalysts (ZSM-5 HY zeolite) on composition volatiles released during pyrolysis biocrude. latter was obtained through raw material in binary solvent system water isopropanol. yield accounted for ca. 45 wt.% initial dry biomass. It complex mixture various component groups with an abundant share oxygenates, especially carboxylic acids esters. Thereafter, subjected to study performed means microscale coupled pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique (Py-GC-MS). dominant components identified pyrolytic were unsaturated hydrocarbons (both cyclic aliphatic ones) and, lesser extent, oxygen nitrogen compounds. addition ZSM-5 zeolite allowed us attain relative total volatile fraction equal 66% 73%, respectively (in relation compounds). Thus, over zeolites seems be particularly prospective due promotion deoxygenation reactions, which manifested noticeable decrease compounds evolved volatiles. developed innovative pomaces allows obtaining value-added products that could serve as chemicals, biocomponents, self-contained biofuels well bioplastic precursors. presented contribution brings some insights field valorization residuals generated food industry sector.
