Purification of High-Purity Tin via Vertical Zone Refining

The present investigation delves into the potential of vertical zone refining as an effective purification technique for achieving high-purity tin (Sn) metal. utilization offers distinct advantages over traditional horizontal refining, it allows enhanced control molten and solid–liquid interface, ultimately leading to superior impurity separation efficiency. study reveals that solute partition coefficients (k0) various elements, such Zn, Ag, Al, Mg, Ca, Ni, In, Co, Cu, As, Pb, Fe, Bi, during process consistently demonstrate values below one. Notably, coefficient Sb deviates slightly from others, being greater than one but approaching authors achieve exceptional levels purity in both bottom middle regions rod by subjecting Sn melt nine passes at a heating temperature 405 °C downward pulling rate 10 µm/s, resulting purities exceeding 6N4. Furthermore, evaluating (keff), was determined Cu closely approach their equilibrium coefficients, reaching approximately 0.492 0.327, respectively.
