Pulsed electric current sintering of TiB2-based ceramics using nitride additives

چکیده
In this research, various types of nitride additives were incorporated into titanium diboride attaining dense TiB2-based ceramics by field-assisted sintering technique. The addition different additives, namely Si3N4, BN, AlN, and TiN, significantly improved the sinterability TiB2, achieving near fully ceramics. X-ray diffraction analysis microstructural evaluation confirmed presence h-BN compound in all specimens. TiB2-Si3N4 ceramic, Si3N4 additive reacted with B2O3 oxide, in-situ generating h-BN, SiO2 phases. Although phase was produced TiB2-AlN specimen, main proportion AlN remained sample as an unreacted ex-situ phase. terms TiB2-TiN some nitrogen boron atoms could leave TiN TiB2 crystalline structures, contributing to formation h-BN.

This work deals with sintering additives for the low temperature pressureless sintering of Si3N4, via a transient liquid technique. Much attention has been given to the development of a sintering process using low-cost Si3N4 powder (Silzot HQ, Germany) as the starting material and employing sintering additives which are also both economically attractive and enable sintering at low temperatures....

Ultra-fast and energy-efficient sintering of ceramics by electric current concentration
Electric current activated/assisted sintering (ECAS) techniques, such as electrical discharge sintering (EDS) or resistive sintering (RS), have been intensively investigated for longer than 50 years. In this work, a novel system including an electrically insulated graphite die for Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) is described, which allows the sintering of any refractory ceramic material in less th...
متن کاملSintering of Ceramics
Sintering with low frequency rf power (-50 M H z ) is a new technique with unique capabilities that has been used to sinter a variety of ceramic materials, including zirconia-toughened alumina, alumina, silicon carbide, and boron carbide. Processing with low frequencies offers many advantages compared to processing with conventional microwave frequencies (915 MHz and 2.45 GHz). Because of the l...
