Psychosocial impact of malocclusion: Is there gender difference

Background/Aim: The aim of the research is to assess psychosocial impact malocclusion, determine relationship with degree need for orthodontic treatment, and influence gender on this in adolescents. Material Methods: A total 100 subjects, aged 12 18, participated research. subjects had no previous treatment. assessment treatment was performed using Index Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN), namely Dental Health Component (DHC) Aesthetic (AC). dental aesthetics assessed PIDAQ questionnaire. Results: score, as well its 4 subclasses, self-confidence, psychological impact, social aesthetic concern have a positive correlation categories IOTN. similar boys girls, except that girls showed slightly greater due presence malocclusion. Conclusions: present malocclusion has individual, but it also negatively affects his self-confidence concerns. results questionnaire can guide orthodontist patient's basic problem thus provide guidelines
