چکیده
Abstract Background Self-reported measures play a crucial role in research, clinical practice and health assessment. Instruments used to assess self-reported health-related quality of life (HRQoL) need validation ensure that they measure what are intended to, detect true changes over time differentiate between subjects. A generic instrument measuring HRQoL adapted for use among people living with cancer Uganda is lacking; therefore, this study aimed evaluate the psychometric properties European Organisation Research Treatment Cancer (EORTC) QLQ-C30 patients Uganda. Methods Adult various types (n = 385) cared at Institute answered EORTC Luganda or English language, two most spoken languages country. The language versions were evaluated regard data (floor ceiling effects missing responses), reliability (internal consistency) validity (construct, known-group criterion). Construct was examined through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Mean scores compared groups differing disease stage validity. Criterion according associations subscales (Global Physical function) Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS). Results Floor observed several scales versions. All exception Cognitive function (Luganda α 0.66, 0.50) had acceptable Cronbach’s alpha values (0.79–0.96). CFA yielded good fit indices both (RMSEA 0.08, SRMR 0.05 CFI 0.93). Known-group demonstrated statistically significant better reported by stages I–II those III–IV. supported positive correlations KPS r 0.75, 0.76) Global 0.59, 0.72). Conclusion appear be valid reliable can recommended research adult Ugandans cancer. However, cognitive scale did not reach internal consistency needs further evaluation.

Minimal clinically meaningful differences for the EORTC QLQ-C30 and EORTC QLQ-BN20 scales in brain cancer patients.
BACKGROUND We aimed to determine the smallest changes in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) scores in the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire core 30 and the Brain Cancer Module (QLQ-BN20), which could be considered as clinically meaningful in brain cancer patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS World Health Organisation performance status (PS)...
متن کاملMapping EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-MY20 to EQ-5D in patients with multiple myeloma
BACKGROUND In oncology, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) data are often collected using disease-specific patient questionnaires while generic, patient-level utility data required for health economic modeling are often not collected. METHODS We developed a mapping algorithm for multiple myeloma that relates HRQoL scores from the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer ...
متن کاملThe validity of EORTC QLQ-C30 fatigue scale in advanced cancer patients and cancer survivors.
Fatigue is a major complaint among advanced cancer patients. Several instruments are available for measuring fatigue. The EORTC QLQ-C30 is one of the most frequently used health-related quality of life (HRQOL) instruments, and it includes a three-item fatigue subscale. Limited knowledge exists about the validity, performance and sensitivity of EORTC QLQ-C30 fatigue scale as compared with a fati...
متن کاملValidation of the Turkish versions of EORTC QLQ-C30 and BR23 modules in breast cancer patients.
PURPOSE To test the validity and reliability of The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) core (QLQ-C30) and breast cancer module (QLQ-BR23) for Turkish breast cancer patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 127 patients treated with radiotherapy (RT) enrolled to this prospective study. EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BR23 modules applied to patients before initiation of R...
متن کاملEffects of mode of administration (MOA) on the measurement properties of the EORTC QLQ-C30: a randomized study
BACKGROUND While modern electronic data collection methods (e.g., computer touch-screen or web-based) hold much promise, most current studies continue to make use of more traditional data collection techniques, including paper-and-pencil administration and telephone interviews. The present randomized trial investigated the measurement properties of the EORTC QLQ-C30 under three different modes ...
