Gender diverse individuals who do not conform to society’s binary gender expectations are more likely experience difficulties in acceptance and recognition of gender, compared binary-identifying transgender people. This may accentuate the feeling that their identity is socially recognized or validated. study aimed investigate psychological functioning among adolescents adults identify beyond spectrum. In both populations, 589 clinically-referred from UK (n = 438 birth-assigned females n 151 males), 632 Netherlands 278 354birth-assigned we found a higher degree problems was predicted by identifying strongly with non-binary identity. For adolescents, were related having being assigned female at birth. adult population, experiencing also significantly stronger younger age. Clinicians working people should be aware applicants for physical interventions might have broader range identities than one, may, various reasons, particularly vulnerable difficulties.
