چکیده

Abstract Salmonella enteritidis is one of the leading bacterial causative agents acute human gastroenteritis from poultry. The objective this study was to determine efficacy patent pending low pKa, lipid-based natural R2 product Feed Energy on commercial layer pullets using a challenge model. One-day-old HyLine W-36 were placed in two separate rooms (116 sq.ft.) at 48 birds per pen. At 10 weeks age, individual cages an A-Frame cage with plastic wall between treatments (48 cages) and for control. All orally gavaged S.E. 17 5.2x108 CFU/bird. dietary day 1: Control: Basal Diet + Distiller corn Oil (DCO), Treatment: product. fed starter feed 1 12 age 2.5% added fat grower diet 20 1% fat. prevalences ceca, ovaries, cloacal swabs compared logistic regression. CFUs culture-positive samples linear statistical testing assumed two-sided alternative hypothesis, P < 0.05 considered significant. Ceca ovary evaluated one-half week 3 post challenge. both sample times, had numerically less prevalence swabs. Although there not difference each tissue tested, obvious trend reduction over time that would indicate may be helping hens more rapidly clear colonization long-term benefits preventing and/or reducing ceca ovaries.

Evaluation of Anti-SE Bacteriophage as Feed Additives to Prevent Salmonella enteritidis (SE) in Broiler

This experiment was conducted to evaluate anti-Salmonella enteritidis (anti-SE) bacteriophage as feed additives to prevent Salmonella enteritidis in broilers. The experimental diets were formulated for 2 phases feeding trial, and 3 different levels (0.05, 0.1 and 0.2%) of anti-SE bacteriophage were supplemented in basal diet. The basal diet was regarded as the control treatment. A total of 320 ...

Comparison of heterophil phagocytosis for heterophil-adapted Salmonella enteritidis (HASE) and wild-type Salmonella enteritidis (SE).

Serial passage of Salmonella enteritidis (SE) yields heterophil-adapted SE (HASE) strains that have resulted in decreased shedding of SE in feces and reduced egg contamination. Additionally, increasing the number of heterophil passages further reduced the number and frequency of fecal shedding. To evaluate SE and heterophil interaction, nine SE strains were fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled wh...

Effect of various combinations of alfalfa and standard layer diet on susceptibility of laying hens to Salmonella enteritidis during forced molt.

Feed deprivation is commonly used by the poultry industry to induce molting and stimulate multiple egg-laying cycles. However, feed deprivation has been observed experimentally to increase susceptibility of poultry to Salmonella infections. Previous studies indicated that alfalfa was efficacious in reducing Salmonella; the present investigation was designed to evaluate the efficacy of combined ...

Virulence Determination of Three Iranian Isolates of Salmonella Enteritidis in Day-Old Layer Chicks

BACKGROUND: Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) infection in poultry is one of the most important concerns in poultry. Virulence and pathogenicity of the SE isolates from Iran have not been well studied so far. OBJECTIVES: In the present study, three Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) isolates were compared with a standard SE strain (PT21) for virulenc...
