چکیده

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effect of narasin withdrawal on steers ruminal fermentation characteristics. Nellore [n = 30; initial body weight (BW) 281 ± 21 kg] cannulated at rumen were assigned individual pens in a randomized complete block design according their shrunk BW. The trial lasted 156 days, divided into 2 periods. first period 140 days and consisted daily supply narasin. In second (last 16 days) animals not supplemented with narasin, when residual additive was evaluated. diet composed by 99% haylage Tifton-85, 1% concentrate used as delivery vehicle for experimental diets were: 1) no feed additives (CON); 2) 13 mg narasin/kg DM (N13); 3) 20 (N20). dry matter intake (DMI) evaluated fluid obtained day 0, 1, 3, 5, 8 after withdrawal. data analyzed using MIXED procedure, considered significant P ≤ 0.05. DMI affected (P ≥ 0.27). There treatment interaction removal molar ratio acetate < 0.01), propionate ac:prop 0.01) ammonia nitrogen 0.03). inclusion linearly reduced increased 0.04), decreased up 5 Narasin 1 0.01). It is concluded that use results process from diets.

Effect of diet and folic acid addition on digestibility and ruminal fermentation in growing steers.

Eight ruminally fistulated steers (352 +/- 27 kg BW) were used in a replicated 4 x 4 Latin square design. Treatments were 1) 70% rolled barley +30% timothy hay (HC), 2) HC+folic acid (2 mg/kg BW; HC+F), 3) 30% rolled barley + 70% timothy hay (HF), and 4) HF+F. Total tract apparent digestibility of DM and CP were greater (P < or = .05) in steers fed the HC diet, whereas that of ADF and NDF was g...

Effect of ionophores on ruminal fermentation.

In the mid-1970s, ionophores were approved by the Food and Drug Administration for addition to the rations of ruminants in the United States. Monensin has been used most extensively, but others, including lasalocid, tetronasin, lysocellin, narasin, and laidlomycin, either have been investigated or are used commercially. lonophores generally have improved the efficiency of feed utilization; with...

Effect of Rhodophyta extracts on in vitro ruminal fermentation characteristics, methanogenesis and microbial populations

OBJECTIVE Due to the threat of global warming, the livestock industry is increasingly interested in exploring how feed additives may reduce anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, especially from ruminants. This study investigated the effect of Rhodophyta supplemented bovine diets on in vitro rumen fermentation and rumen microbial diversity. METHODS Cannulated Holstein cows were used as rumen...

Influence of rumen protein degradability and supplementation frequency on steers consuming low-quality forage: II. Ruminal fermentation characteristics.

Seven ruminally and duodenally cannulated steers (264 +/- 8 kg BW) consuming low-quality forage (5% CP; 61% NDF; 31% ADF) were used to determine the influence of CP degradability and supplementation frequency (SF) on ruminal fermentation characteristics. Treatments included an unsupplemented control and degradable intake protein (DIP) or undegradable intake protein (UIP) provided daily, every 3...
