Development of Nonlinear Lattice-Hammerstein Filters for Gaussian Signals

In this paper, the nonlinear lattice-Hammerstein filter and its properties are derived. It is shown that the error signals are orthogonal to the input signal and also backward errors of different stages are orthogonal to each other. Numerical results confirm all the theoretical properties of the lattice-Hammerstein structure.

Pseudo-Aligned Multilingual Corpora

In machine translation, document alignment refers to finding correspondences between documents which are exact translations of each other. We define pseudo-alignment as the task of finding topical—as opposed to exact—correspondences between documents in different languages. We apply semisupervised methods to pseudo-align multilingual corpora. Specifically, we construct a topicbased graph for ea...

Matched Subspace Detectors for Stochastic Signals

Our aim in this paper is to extend the matched subspace detectors (MSDs) of [1–3] to the detection of stochastic signals. In [1–3] the signal to be detected was assumed to be placed deterministically at an unknown location in a known signal subspace. The basis for the subspace was irrelevant. In this paper the signal is assumed to be placed randomly at an unknown location in a known subspace. I...

Interference in Lattice Networks

Lattices are important as models for the node locations in wireless networks for two main reasons: (1) When network designers have control over the placement of the nodes, they often prefer a regular arrangement in a lattice for coverage and interference reasons. (2) If nodes are randomly distributed or mobile, good channel access schemes ensure that concurrent transmitters are regularly spaced...

Subspace interference in statistical signal detection

Signal detection in certain noise environments fits naturally into a statistical hypothesis testing framework. In order to have moderately tractable models, the noise is often assumed to be additive with a multivariate normal distribution. Additionally, computational complexity requirements may demand the assumption of spatial stationarity, particularly in the case when the data is 2-dimensiona...
