چکیده

Abstract Background Laryngopharyngeal reflux is a silent cause of laryngeal disorders which was documented in the last decade by many studies. This study aimed to evaluate prevalence GERD cases and effect treatment on these disorders. Methodology In this single-arm (pre post) quasi-experimental study, eighty patients with were examined for rigid laryngoscopy assessed Reflux Finding Score (RFS). Complaints evaluated using 9-item Symptom Index (RSI) questionnaire. Patients received medical form proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) only, they reassessed after 3 months improvement their symptoms signs RSI RFS systems compare patient complaints findings endoscopy pre- post-treatment. Results Among 80 confirmed cases, 70 (87.5%) suffered from Throat clearing postnasal drip most prevalent symptoms, ventricular obliteration erythema, vocal fold diffuse edema, posterior commissure hypertrophy detected signs. Significant both PPI therapy clearly observed. The resistance rate among our studied reported be 22.4%. Conclusion can considered as an inducer or disorders, significant direct proportional relationship between severity RFS. greatly improves high response (77.6%).

Helicobacter pylori, proton pump inhibitors and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Proton pump inhibitors have become of pivotal importance for the treatment of GERD. The purpose of this paper is to review the interaction between Helicobacter pylori and PPIs in the treatment of GERD. H. pylori exaggerates the acid suppressive effects of PPIs. During treatment with these drugs, H. pylori-positive subjects thus have a higher intragastric pH than H. pylori-negative subjects. The...

Proton pump inhibitors in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

The primary treatment goals in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are relief of symptoms, prevention of symptom relapse, healing of erosive esophagitis and prevention of complications. The severity of GERD is directly correlated with the degree and duration of oesophageal acid exposure and is highly pH dependent. Healing of reflux esophagitis is directly correlated with the in...

Prevalence of bile reflux in gastroesophageal reflux disease patients not responsive to proton pump inhibitors.

AIM To determine the prevalence and characteristics of bile reflux in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) patients with persistent symptoms who are non-responsive to medical therapy. METHODS Sixty-five patients (40 male, 25 female; mean age, 50 +/- 7.8 years) who continued to report symptoms after 8 wk of high-dose proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy, as well as 18 patients with Barrett's ...

Predictive Factors of Response to Proton Pump Inhibitors in Korean Patients With Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

BACKGROUND/AIMS Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are widely used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, some patients fail to respond to PPI therapy. We investigated the efficacy of response to PPI therapy in patients with GERD symptoms. METHODS A total of 179 subjects with GERD symptoms were prospectively enrolled and diagnosed with non-erosive reflux disease (NERD...
