چکیده
Frontispiece: In article number 2000776, Andriy Horechyy, Iryna Yevchuk, Andreas Fery, and co-workers present a series of hybrid proton conducting membranes composed covalently cross-linked interpenetrating polymeric silica networks. The effects monomer composition, sol–gel composition fraction on performance are investigated discussed. These novel hold promise for the application in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC).

Fabrication and Characterization of Proton Conductive Membranes Based on Poly(methyl methacrylate-co-maleic anhydride)
In this study, proton conductive composite membranes were produced by using a poly(methylmethacrylate-co-maleic anhydride) (P(MMA-co-MAH)) copolymer and phosphotungstic Acid (PWA) as an additive of the proton conductive agent. P(MMA/MAH) 70/30, 50/50, and 30/70 were synthesized using a free radical polymerization reaction. PWA with a concentration of 2% was added to...
متن کاملConductive interpenetrating networks of polypyrrole and polycaprolactone encourage electrophysiological development of cardiac cells.
UNLABELLED Conductive and electroactive polymers have the potential to enhance engineered cardiac tissue function. In this study, an interpenetrating network of the electrically-conductive polymer polypyrrole (PPy) was grown within a matrix of flexible polycaprolactone (PCL) and evaluated as a platform for directing the formation of functional cardiac cell sheets. PCL films were either treated ...
متن کاملInterpenetrating Polymer Networks (IPN
Interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) refers to a type of elastomer in which two chemically distinct networks coexist, ideally having a structure that is homogeneous down to the segmental level [1]. The two components are present as co-continuous, interlocking networks (catenanes). This co-continuity can be achieved by kinetic retention of an initially miscible mixture of the monomers used to ...
متن کاملPoroelasticity of a covalently crosslinked alginate hydrogel under compression
This paper studies the poroelastic behavior of an alginate hydrogel by a combination of theory and experiment. The gel—covalently crosslinked, submerged in water, and fully swollen—is suddenly compressed between two parallel plates. The gap between the plates is held constant subsequently, and the force on the plate relaxes while water in the gel migrates. This experiment is analyzed by using t...
متن کاملPreparation of anisotropically proton-conductive materials based on poly(vinylidene fluoride) ion track membranes
Proton exchange membranes (PEMs) for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) have recently been developed by our original techniques of the γ-ray or electron-beam crosslinking and graft polymerization. Our additional main focus is the use of cylindrical damage in polymers produced by bombardment of high-energy ions, that is called a latent track. We are taking the approach using this ion track t...
