Protective effect of bovine lactoferrin against Cronobacter sakazakii in human intestinal Caco-2/TC7 cells

چکیده

Milk is a source of bioactive proteins with defensive properties great value for protecting the newborn. The activity bovine milk lactoferrin (LF) was investigated as an antibacterial agent in internalisation emergent pathogen Cronobacter sakazakii into Caco-2/TC7 cells, model human intestinal epithelium. effect LF on oxidative stress and expression Toll-like receptors (TLR) also investigated. exerted clear against C. sakazakii, well inhibitory adhesion cells. Incubation induced increase lipid fraction which reversed by LF. Additionally, altered TLR, decrease levels TLR4 at 24 h incubation. These results suggest that has very interesting potential ingredient functional foods.

Protective effects of lactoferrin against intestinal mucosal damage induced by lipopolysaccharide in human intestinal Caco-2 cells.

Indirect evidence suggests that lactoferrin (Lf), a major iron-binding protein in human milk, induces enterocyte growth and proliferation, depending on its concentration and affects the function and permeability of the intestinal mucosa. The bacterial endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS) is known to cause mucosal hyperpermeability in vivo. However, protective effects of Lf against LPS-mediated i...

Conditioned medium from Bifidobacteria infantis protects against Cronobacter sakazakii-induced intestinal inflammation in newborn mice.

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is associated with a high morbidity and mortality in very low birth weight infants. Several hypotheses regarding the pathogenesis of NEC have been proposed but to date no effective treatment is available. Previous studies suggest that probiotic supplementation is protective. We recently reported that probiotic (Bifidobacterium infantis) conditioned medium (PCM) h...

Antioxidant activity and protective effects of peptide lunasin against oxidative stress in intestinal Caco-2 cells.

Oxidative stress is one of the most critical factors implicated in many disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, such as inflammatory bowel diseases and colon cancer. Lunasin is a seed peptide known by its properties against cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The present study investigated the in vitro antioxidant activity of this peptide that demonstrated to be a potent scavenger of peroxyl a...

Antibacterial Effect of Bovine Lactoferrin Against Udder Pathogens

The antibacterial effect of lactoferrin (Lf) was tested on isolates of Escherichia coli (E. coli), Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) as well as on Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae), originally isolated from bovine mastitis. Concentrations of Lf used were 0.67 mg/ml, 1.67 mg/ml, and 2.67 mg/ml. Growth of u...

Untreated and enzyme-modified bovine whey products reduce association of Salmonella Typhimurium, Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Cronobacter malonaticus (formerly Enterobacter sakazakii) to CaCo-2 cells.

AIMS Adhesion of a micro-organism to a cell surface is often considered to be the first step in pathogenesis. Inhibiting this process may have therapeutic effects in vivo. This study investigates the inhibitory effects of various bovine whey products on the association of Salm. Typhimurium, E. coli O157:H7 and C. malonaticus (formerly Enterobacter sakazakii) to the human CaCo-2 cell line. Invas...
