Protective action of priming agents on Urochloa brizantha seeds under water restriction and salinity conditions

Abstract: Analyses of germination seeds under artificial stress conditions are tools for a better understanding the survival and adaptation capacity species natural conditions. Therefore, aim this study was to evaluate effect priming on seed germination, breaking dormancy, length Urochloa brizantha seedlings water restriction salt A completely randomized experimental design used with four replications in 3 × 6 factorial arrangement consisting (water, PEG, salinity NaCl) treatments [five solutions (distilled water, potassium nitrate, spermidine, gibberellin, sodium nitroprusside) control (unprimed seeds)]. The following determinations were made: moisture content after (before drying) drying seeds, test at seven twenty-one days sowing, speed index, viability by tetrazolium remaining from test, seedling length. Priming is effective minimizing negative effects salinity. Use nitroprusside as solution results lower percentage dormant greater vigor, plant development.
