Properties of heat-treated beech laminated veneer lumber reinforced with carbon fiber fabric

Carbon fiber fabric reinforced laminated veneer lumber (RLVL) pieces were prepared by using heat-treated beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) veneers with polyurethane (PU) adhesive as the binder. was tested in three different locations solid material and non-reinforced samples (on bottom line, upper lines-symmetrical). Prior to manufacture of LVL RLVL, heat treatment conducted a laboratory oven at temperatures. These temperatures 150, 170, 190 °C. Tests performed on RLVL determine their air-dried density, modulus rupture (MOR), elasticity bending (MOE). Experimental test results showed that reinforcement carbon fiber increased MOR, MOE. In addition, placed symmetrically close surfaces gave highest MOR MOE values. However, locating closer surface tended give higher mechanical properties for LVL.
