چکیده
Salinity is a major environmental constraint that reduces plant development, growth, and yield. To appraise the potential role of foliar-applied proline as an alternative shotgun approach to ameliorate adverse effects salinity on wheat, pot experiment was conducted under controlled conditions using two wheat cultivars (Galaxy-13 salt-sensitive) (Pasban-90 salt-tolerant). The laid out in completely randomized design with factorial arrangement four replications. After ten days germination, plants were thinned maintain six seedlings each germinating irrigated weekly full strength Hoagland’s nutrient solution stress (NaCl) applied after three weeks germination. Foliar spray (100 mM) treatment salinity. caused significant reduction morphological attributes like lengths fresh weights root shoot, number leaves leaf area well yield spike length, spikelets per spike, grains 100 seed weight. Furthermore, chlorophyll fluorescence, contents, quantum yield, electron transport rate (ETR) also reduced by salt stress. However, foliar mM most effective toxic improving biomass production, both cultivars. findings confirmed ability stimulate tolerance plants.

Influence of Exogenous Application of Brassinosteroid on Growth and Mineral Nutrients of Wheat (triticum Aestivum L.) under Saline Conditions
Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a novel group of plant growth regulators which regulate growth and development of plants. BRs application is also effective in ameliorating the adverse effects of abiotic stresses including salt stress. A pot experiment was conducted to assess the influence of exogenous application of BRs as a foliar spray on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) growth and pattern of nutrient...
متن کاملPotassium induced salinity tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
Water culture experiments were conducted to study the response of ten wheat genotypes to external K application (10 mmol KCI dm3) at seedling stage under saline condition (0 and 100 mmol NaCl dm3). The data showed that there was an increase in the shoot and root length with the application of external K. The increase was more pronounced under control than under saline conditions. The better per...
متن کاملPhysiological assessment of drought tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties under moisture stress conditions
Drought is one of the major limiting factors in wheat production in Pakistan. Five commercial wheat varieties; Chakwal-97, Inqilab-91, Margalla-99, NR-234 and Wafaq2001 were grown in pots in glasshouse. Plants were subjected to three consecutive drought cycles at tillering, pre-anthesis and milky growth stages by withholding water till leaf rolling started. Measurements of physiological respons...
متن کاملDetection of Saline Tolerant Wheat Cultivars (triticum Aestivum L.) Using Lipid Peroxidation, Antioxidant Defense System, Glycine- Betaine and Proline Contents
Salt produces free radicals in the plants and these free radicals are scavenged by the antioxidative capacity of the plant. Change in antioxidant activity, phenolic contents, lipid peroxidation, glycine betaine and proline contents were investigated in fifteen genotypes of wheat differing in salt tolerance. The results revealed that the aqueous extracts of wheat (300 μg/ml) in control and under...

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of mineral fertilization on the activity of alkaline and acid phosphatase and content of available phosphorus in soil under winter wheat cultivation. The fi rst factor of experiment was the fertilization with P, K, Mg, Ca and S in six levels: 1 (P, K, Mg, Ca and S), 2 (K, Mg, Ca and S), 3 (P, Mg, Ca and S), 4 (P, K, Ca and S), 5 (P, K, Mg, Ca), ...
