Proline-functionalised calix[4]arene: an anion-triggered hydrogelator.
A water-soluble, chiral calix[4]arene has been found to form hydrogels when triggered by the presence of specific anions, with efficacy linked to the Hofmeister series; the gel properties are modified by the associated cations, and gelation can be reversibly switched off by increasing pH.

The syntheses and characterization of two new redox active cyclam ligands ferrocenylmethyl-(6-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradec-6-yl)-amine (L3) and 1,1'-ferrocenylmethyl-bis(6-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradec-6-yl)-amine (L4) are reported. The compounds each possess a ferrocenyl group bearing one (L3) or two (L4) appended macrocycles linked by their exocyclic amino groups and the crys...
متن کاملDual-functionalised ionic liquids: synthesis and characterisation of imidazolium salts with a nitrile-functionalised anion.
A series of 'dual-functionalised' ionic liquids, comprising imidazolium cations with various functionalities and the nitrile functionalised anion [CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN]- have been prepared; some exhibit very low viscosities-a highly valuable property in many applications.
متن کاملAnion binding vs. sulfonamide deprotonation in functionalised ureas.
Sulfonamide groups, commonly used as neutral hydrogen bond donors in a wide variety of anion receptors, deprotonate upon addition of certain basic anionic guests in two simple functionalised ureas.
متن کاملMetal-organic anion receptors: trans-functionalised platinum complexes.
The anion complexation properties of a trans-functionalised platinum(II) complex have been studied revealing a high affinity for sulfate in solution and 3:2 receptor sulfate complex formation in the solid state with the anion bound in a pocket lined with 6 NH and 8 CH hydrogen-bond-donating groups.
