Proliferation of household waste irregular dumpsites in Niger Delta region (Nigeria): unsustainable public health monitoring and future restitution

Abstract Inadequate collection and improper disposal of municipal waste have a direct negative impact on cities. Disease occurrence in Obio-Akpor (Port Harcourt metropolis, Nigeria) was suspected linked to the proliferation dumpsites proximity residential households. Evidence showed frequent incidence diseases outbreak coupled with topographic coastal nature morphological propelling dynamics sediments transport area assisting situation. The main objective this study assess how spatial distribution irregular is disease (cholera, diarrhoea malaria) community. data used for obtained through questionnaires administrated at hospitals, use GPS locating incidences dumps, interviews observations. Point pattern analysis using G-function K-function employed analyzing incidences. Correlation tests were performed test relationship between presence dumpsites. results that there significant ( p < 0.05) It also observed could occur areas where not present as cholera are contagious but malaria not, though it spreads. will be beneficial governmental agencies, managers, institutions, environmentalists, health, social workers future researchers.
