Virus Proliferation in Hypoxic Mice and Chick Embryos
Virus proliferation in hypoxic animals was markedly reduced. Little difference in this respect between influenza virus (PR8) and mouse encephalomyelitis virus (Theiler's GD VII) was observed except that there was a longer depression of the latter virus. The possible mechanisms involved are discussed.
متن کاملPropagation of Chandipura virus in chick embryos.
Stocks of three Indian Chandipura virus (CHPV) isolates; one isolate from an adult febrile case in 1965 from Chandipura town, Maharashtra, and two isolates from two pediatric encephalitis cases from Andhra Pradesh, 2003 were inoculated in 10-day-old chick embryos by allantoic route. All three virus isolates replicated in chick embryos showing titre of log 10(12) to log 10(13) EID50. The results...
متن کاملTitration of Influenza Virus in Chick Embryos
A study was made to establish the reproducibility of end points obtained in the titration of influenza viruses in chick embryos. Six tests were performed, each composed of five replicate titrations of a purified preparation of the PR8 strain of influenza virus. The data from these titrations were subjected to statistical analysis which revealed that the chances are 19 out of 20 that differences...
متن کاملIsolation of Bovine Parainfluenza-3 Virus in Chick Embryos.
Myxovirus parainfluenza-3 (SF-4 bovine strain) was first isolated in tissue cultures of embryonic bovine kidney (EBK) cells (Reisinger, Heddleston, and Manthei, J. Am. Vet. Med. Assoc. 135:147, 1959). This agent is antigenically and biologically related to the human HA-1 strain isolated previously by Chanock et al. in monkey kidney cells (Abinanti and Huebner, Virology 8:391, 1959; Abinanti et ...
متن کاملSeroepidemiological Studies of Aino Virus Infection in Korean Cattle
Aino virus infection is characterized by abortion, stillbirth, and congenital abnormalities such as arthropgryposishydranencephaly syndrome in calves. In Korea, Aino virus infection was first reported in 1997 by researchers who were investigating the cause of newborn calf deformities. Given the incidence of Aino-related deformities, the need for a study of the Aino virus infection status in Kor...
