Project leadership in the oil and gas industry: The case for path-goal leadership theory

Project leadership is still an active research topic. In the oil and gas industry, mega projects cost millions of dollars to execute, project delays can lead avoidable losses when exemplary behaviour adopted. The challenges impacting performance be resolved through efficient effective leadership. financing increases with in completion, reducing cost-benefit value, escalating exposure environment more damages from activities. Eighty-two case studies literature were reviewed, salient attributes success outlined. From findings, we advocate for a structure that recognizes unique roles emphasis on enhancing team's effectiveness, hence Path-Goal Leadership. This study premised industry because it currently major driver Nigerian economy; save nation huge costs this sector.
