Progress in research on relay protection of the power system with large-scale wind power access

This paper explores the relay protection of power grid with large-scale wind access across globe. First, amplitude and attenuation characteristics short circuit current in different types turbines are analyzed, as well contributing factors to short-circuit farms. Second, fault corresponding strategies collector plant discussed. Then, view adaptability HVDC access, performance zero-sequence protection, reclosing distance III section countermeasures analyzed. Finally, suggestions for directions further research proposed: strengthening on turbines; performing general electromagnetic transient modeling protection; developing new principles technologies network applicable farm buses networks; collaborations between farms grids control solve problems protection.
